Samsung Galaxy S24+ Introduces QHD+ Display and 12GB RAM, S24 Offers 7 Years of Continuous Support

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series: Bridging the Present and Future, Unparalleled Support Ensures a Decade-Long Experience.

In unveiling the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, a testament to the role of AI in shaping the future, a significant real-time enhancement takes center stage – all three S24 models now feature LTPO displays with a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz. While this feature was already present in the Ultra phones, its integration into the vanilla and plus models marks a long-awaited upgrade for those who prefer these variants.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ receives a notable enhancement in the form of a QHD+ resolution on its flat 6.7” display. This brings the user experience remarkably close to the Ultra, all at a more affordable price point. The S24+ maintains a similar size to the S23+ but comes with a larger display by a tenth of an inch and a 200mAh boost in battery capacity, now standing at 4,900mAh.

A pivotal change for the S24+ is the uniform inclusion of 12GB of RAM across all configurations, mirroring the Ultra. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB variants.

A discreet detail from Samsung is the exclusive use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipsets in the S24 Ultra, while the S24 and S24+ will adopt this only in select regions. Elsewhere, they will feature the new Exynos 2400. Regional distribution details are yet to be disclosed.

The Samsung Galaxy S24, with its slightly larger 6.2” display, maintains FHD+ resolution. However, the panel has been upgraded to LTPO (1-120Hz). The entire S24 series boasts a peak brightness of 2,600 nits with Vision Booster, surpassing last year’s 1,750-nit limit.

In terms of battery capacity, the Galaxy S24 offers an additional 100mAh, reaching 4,000mAh. Nevertheless, charging remains capped at 25W wired and 15W wireless. The S24+ charging specifications remain unchanged (45W wired, 15W wireless with Qi charging). Using a compatible USB charger, the S24 achieves 50% battery in 30 minutes, while the S24+ reaches 65% in the same timeframe.

Despite the Exynos situation, the vanilla S24 model misses out on the memory upgrade, featuring a base configuration with only 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Excitingly, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series guarantees 7 generations of OS updates and 7 years of security patches, ensuring support into the 2030s. The phones launch with Android 14 and One UI 6.1 out of the box.

Briefly addressing the cameras, both the S24 and S24+ feature a 50MP main camera (f/1.8 lens with OIS), a 12MP ultrawide (120°), and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom (f/2.4). The front-facing camera maintains a 12MP sensor (f/2.2, 80° lens), with no changes.

Regarding build, the S24 and S24+ adhere to aluminum (in contrast to the Ultra, which now features a titanium frame) and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from the previous year. As anticipated, the dust and water resistance rating stands at IP68.

Both phones offer sub-6GHz and mmWave variants, with availability varying by region. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6E (not 7) and Bluetooth 5.3.

Pricing starts at $800/€900/£800 for the Galaxy S24 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the Galaxy S24+ starts at $1,000/€1,150/£1,000 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
