Moto G Play (2024) Unveiled: Affordable Pricing at $149 and Impressive 50 MP Main Camera

Moto G Play (2024): Affordable Excellence with a 50 MP Camera and Robust Features

Motorola has officially introduced the Moto G Play (2024), set to hit the US market on February 8 with a price tag of $149.99. The phone will be available at major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola’s online store. Additionally, it will be offered through Consumer Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Visible, Cricket, AT&T, UScellular, Cox Mobile, Straight Talk, Walmart Family Mobile, Total by Verizon, and Simple Mobile.

Canadian consumers can anticipate an earlier release on January 26, with availability at select carriers and national retailers. However, Motorola has yet to disclose the pricing details for Canada, noting that it varies by carrier.

Exploring the features of the Moto G Play (2024), it boasts a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD touchscreen featuring 720×1,600 resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for added durability.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chipset, though it does not support 5G. The device is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. In a departure from the trend, the Moto G Play (2024) opts for a single 50 MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash, while selfies are captured with an 8 MP front camera.

Keeping the phone running throughout the day is a robust 5,000 mAh battery supporting 15W wired charging. However, it’s worth noting that the TurboPower 20W charger, required for optimal charging speed, is not included in the package. Operating on Android 13, the company has not yet provided information on future updates.

On a positive note, the Moto G Play (2024) boasts IP52 certification, ensuring dust protection and resistance to vertically dripping water in four positions, equivalent to 3 mm (0.12″) of rainfall per minute.
